Supporting Utah’s Military-Connected Students

Utah’s Purple Star Schools program helps military-connected students and their families navigate school transitions by providing dedicated support, resources, peer connections, and staff training. The program recognizes schools committed to creating welcoming environments where military children can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Purple Star Schools also play an important role in connecting military families to their communities. Schools establish a dedicated point of contact and peer-led team, provide family resources, and may host school-wide military appreciation events. The newsletter also highlights Purple Up Day on April 15, when schools and communities wear purple to show their support for military children as part of the Month of the Military Child.
